Peter Ghyczy 1968 Garden Pod Chairs

£0.00

SKU: ILT-64865883 Categories: ,

This is a real design icon of the late 1960’s and early 70’s in an era when designers experimented with new design materials such as stretch fabrics and moulded plastics.

Peter Ghyczy was a German designer of Hungarian origin and in 1968 designed the ‘Garden Egg Chair’. The chair was designed for both indoor and outdoor use, although it is rarely used or kept outdoors in bad weather. It’s UFO-like form, coloured plastic lacquer, bright seat and backrest and it’s portability made the chair a huge success.

The chair lid lifts and closes, and when closed is theoretically waterproof. (*NOT TESTED)

The old worn and damaged seat pad and backrest has been replaced with bright orange velvet giving it a more luxurious feel. Cushions are removable should you wish to leave the seat outside in the elements
