This White and Newton compact teak sideboard was manufactured on the south coast of England in Portsmouth. This particular model (the Winchester) was designed by a talented young designer Philip Hussey, the Winchester is one of his earliest designs for the company . This distinctive featuresof this sideboard were typical of the direction in which he would take the company . Philip Hussey worked for White and Newton until they closed circa 1984 and in the 1960s and early 1970s created some of the best British sideboard and cabinet designs of the time . The sleek clean lines are something that made many of his pieces stand out from the crowd, attracting buyers who wanted something more stylish than the mas market of G Plan at the time.
The bi-fold/concertina doors is what sets this sideboard apart from nearly all other sideboards made at the time.
This is a perfect size sideboard for a smaller property at only 168cm wide. It’s compact size means that it is quite versitile and could be used in a open plan kitchen, lounge or home office environment
